Kuric's Layup Saves No. 18 Louisville Against Marquette

Jan 15, 2011 7:50 PM

Kyle Kuric's layup with four seconds left off a heady assist from Preston Knowles capped a furious rally by No. 18 Louisville, who stunned the Marquette, 71-70.

"They were all concentrating on me, and I made them pay for it," Knowles said of the play.

Marquette dominated the game for long stretches but came undone over the final 5:44, making just two field goals during that span.

"That's one of the top-five comebacks," said Louisville coach Rick Pitino. "They outplayed us for the first 34 minutes. I'm really proud of these guys. I'm shaking. It happened so fast."

Hot-Shooting Marquette Upsets No. 9 Notre Dame

Jan 11, 2011 8:11 AM

Dwight Buycks scored a career-high 21 points as Marquette upset No. 9 Notre Dame 79-57 on Monday.

“If it was a good shot, we took the good shot and I think everybody was making shots,” Buycks said.

Buycks went 5 for 5 from 3-point range, part of a 12-for-17 night from behind the arc for Marquette. The Golden Eagles shot 53 percent (26 for 49) overall.

“Offensively, I don’t think we’ve had any issues, any questions,” coach Buzz Williams said. “Sometimes we’re going to shoot it great, sometimes we’re just going to shoot it OK.”
